In this course we will discuss the reactivity of organic and metal-organic molecules by analysis of the frontier molecular orbitals. We will work our way up from simple diatomic molecules unto more complex organometallic systems. We will discover the roles of molecular symmetry and importance of molecular orbitals in order to understand the reactivity. The following topics will be discussed during the course
- Molecular Symmetry
- Molecular Orbital Diagrams of diatomic and triatomic molecules
- Molecular Orbitals Diagrams of Hydrocarbons
- Binding of Organic Molecules to Metal Complexes
- Orbital Mixing and Reactivity in Organic Reactions
The course will be held on:
Monday: 11:30-12:30
Tuesday: 14:30-16:30
