Post-Doctoral Researchers

Ranjeesh Thenarukandiyil

Post-Doctoral Researcher

Ranjeesh obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2017 with Prof. Joyanta Choudhury at IISER Bhopal. In January 2018 he joined the group of Prof. Graham de Ruiter where he has been a post-doctoral researcher working on developing new mangenese-based pincer complexes for the selective transformation of nitriles

Satheesh Vanaparthi

Post-Doctoral Researcher

Satheesh obtained his Ph.D. Degree with Prof. Tharmalingam Punniyamurthy at IIT Guwathi in 2019. He joined the group of Prof. Graham de Ruiter as a post-doctoral scholar in March 2020, where he is working on exploring the one electron chemistry of nickel pincer complexes

Raje Sakthi

Post-Doctoral Researcher

Raje obtained his Ph.D. degree from IIT Kanpur in 2019 working with Prof. Raja Angamuthu. After a short post-doctoral stay with Prof. Lee Cronin, he moved to the Technion to work with Prof. Graham de Ruiter on developing robust bismuth catalysts in organic synthesis.

Graduate Students

Subhash Garwhal

4th Year Graduate Student

Subhash obtained his M.Sc. Degree from IISER Bhopal in 2018, whereafter he joined the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry as a Ph.D. student to work with Prof. Graham de Ruiter. His research is centered around developing new iron pincer complexes as catalysts for challenging organic transformations

Kartick Dey

2nd Year Graduate Student

Kartick obtained his M.Sc. Degree from IIT Dhanbad in 2018. After a short stay with Prof. Swadhin Mandal at IISER Kolkata, he joined the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry in September 2020. He current works on the earth-abundant metal catalyzed reduction of carbon dioxide

Tofayel MD

2nd Year Graduate Student

Tofayel received his M.Sc. degree in 2020 from IIT Kharagpur (India). He moved to the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in February 2021 to start his Ph.D. studies with Prof. Graham de Ruiter. His current research focusses on developing cobalt catalyzed alkene isomerization processes.

Rohit Kamte

1st Year Graduate Student

Rohit obtained his M.Sc. degree from IISER Mohali in 2019. After a delay of almost two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic he was finally able to join the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry as a Ph.D. student in September 2021. His research involves exploring the rich chemistry of manganese in organic synthesis.

Jatin Panda

1st Year Graduate Student

Jatin received his M.Sc. degree in 2021 working with Prof. Joyanta Choudhury at IISER Bhopal. His research interest include iron catalyzed C-H activation and cross-coupling, which he is currently pursuing at the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry in the group of Prof. Graham de Ruiter

Undergraduate Students

Ron Rafaeli

Master Student

Ron is a talented young chemist who completed his B.Sc. degree in 2021 at the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry. He enjoys research in catalysis, where is looking for new methodologies in cobalt-catalyzed alkene isomerization

Phillip Effnert

Visiting Master Student

Phillip is a M.Sc. student in the group of Prof. Bart Jan Ravoo at Munster University. He joined the group of Prof. Graham de Ruiter in July 2021 as a summer student, where he enjoys both the weather and research in Israel
