Sunday April April 3rd 2022 | In this lecture we continue where we left of the week before. During this 45 minute lecture, we established the relationship between molecular symmetry and molecular orbitals. In order to determine the symmetry of the atomic orbitals and or the symmetry adapted linear combinations of grouped orbitals (SALCs or LGOs), we need to be able to use the character table. In this lecture all the aspects of the character table are discussed. The order of the group, the various Mulliken symbols, and the algebraic equations are discussed that are part of the table.
