10.01 | In Class Exercise 1

Sunday April 23rd 2023 | In this class we provided the answer key to the first set of in-class exercises. We treated the symmetry of the d-orbitals. We looked an success improper rotations and saw which other symmetry elements could be generated upon successive operation. We determined how we could make neopentane chiral by rotation over π/3. Finally we used symmetry arguments to distinguish 1H and 19F NMR spectra. The exercises and answer key are in the supplementary materials of this lesson.
